Molasses Spice Cookies Balls

4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs, beaten
Sifted confectioners’ sugar

Large bowl whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and pepper. Set aside.

In a small sauce pan over medium heat, combine molasses, and butte, heat and stir until butter melts. Cool till room temperature.

Stir in eggs. Add to flor mixture and mix well.

Cover and chill dough overnight.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls.

Place on greased baking sheets.

Bake 12 - 14 minutes.

Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Dust with confectioners’ sugar.

Makes 5 dozen cookies.
Freezes well.

Was out of molasses today and when I called hubby who was a Walmart, his phone rang on the kitchen counter as usual. Tomorrow is another day.

But I do like making the dough one day and then finish up the next day.
I do this with my sugar cookies and also with my Greek cookies.
