I’ve been up late at night many times tracing the lines of our family, some to the mayflower and far beyond.
Some to Italy, England, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, etc.
An amazing and unique country we have, that is still a beacon of freedom and a better life.

I’m doing source records for Dutch NY ancestors now. Let me know if there’s one you want searched. Dutch Reformed put their records up. Haven’t had good luck with Episcopalian or Catholic. I’ve searched in NY towns and the record books are SO enormous that I can understand why it’s difficult to copy them. One line takes 3-4 photographs to cover.
These are the baptismal records for the children of Robert Livingston and Alida Schuyler, if there are any of those descendants on here.
Haven’t had the guts to subscribe to the international records yet.

MA may be horribly politically, but it’s a wonderland for genealogy. Every town library has every town book that alphabetically lists everyone’s records up to 1850.
The photographs I took of NY town record books are just a disaster.
I did one of our Q group’s genealogy after dental surgery, and it’s the only thing that kept me sane through the pain.
If Italy’s not collected, could that have to do with being Catholic and the Catholic records here in the US not being collected? What about France’s records?

BRILLIANT!! That NEVER occurred to me.
I think in short, Italy doesn’t have the resources (financial) to collect the records into a central digital database.
So they remain paper records in regions.
Not sure if these records are preserved in any way.
Current births, marriages, deaths, are recorded digitally in the AIRES system.
I worried about this. Then I decided the Obamas considered Michele too important to waste. Putting her up against Trump in 2020 means she MIGHT lose. But saving her for 2024 means she’ll be up against a non-incumbent and has a MUCH better chance. So I’ll guess no.
