Full Title: MINUTE BY MINUTE How Dresden Green Vault raiders carried out the ‘world’s biggest-ever heist’ stealing €1 billion jewels

A GANG of thieves have pulled off the biggest heist in history by stealing €1 billion worth of jewels from a museum in Germany.

The Gruenes Gewoelbe (Green Vault) in Dresden, was targeted by robbers that broke into the building in the early hours of this morning.

SNIP

Here's the break down how the crooks pulled off what is thought to be comfortably the largest heist in history, smashing the previous record $500 million raid on the Gardner Museum in Boston nearly 30 years ago.

Tiny thieves Security sources say the thieves were very small in stature to have been able to fit through the tiny gap they managed to make.

CCTV also showed the diminutive bandits inside the building.

Official sources have described the perpetrators as "conspicuously small".

WASN’T ME!
(Although I almost wish it was!)

From the title, I thought they stole “The Dresden Green” diamond, which is my favorite diamond in the world, but I guess the name is just coincidence. Still, They still got a lot of neat stuff.

I think if I had a multi-billion dollar jewel & etc collection, I’d have a lot more than just some decorative iron bars and rudimentary alarm system protecting it.

Most likely a hired robbery. Someone wanted these specific items, hired the gang through a middleman to carry out the heist. No fence involved.

So we have hired THIEVES to steal particular pieces of jewelry. Does ANYONE have any sympathy for those whose jewelry was stolen?

Sounds like a scam all the way around.

"CCTV also showed the diminutive bandits inside the building. "

So there were TV cameras that showed the robbers.
And who was watching the CCTV monitors?
Why have security cameras if no one is going
pay attention to what they show?
And I think the thieves had inside help,
as others have on FreeRepublic have stated.

Stuff that hot will be flown out by private jet to the private collection of someone who can afford solid gold toilet seats. It will never see a fence.

if insurance can pay half of the value to get them back that could still be more than the thieves could get to keep and break them up

Hmm, Doing more research, maybe they DID get the Dresden Green Diamond. I thought it was still in the Smithsonian, but apparently it has gone back to that museum.

At around 4am GMT the villains cut off a power supply by starting a small fire at a distribution box on a nearby bridge. The blaze knocked out the electricity and shut down the museum's alarm system allowing them to gain entry without alerting the authorities.

I must be missing something. How is it that power to the alarms was cut but not also to CCTV? And, why wasn't there a backup electrical system? Who designed the security system?

Very good questions! I also was wondering about why no
backup power? And shouldn't the museum have guards that
patrol the building on foot? With all of those valuable
jewels and other baubles why weren't there any guards
in the room with that stuff --- you know, guarding it?
Doing their job.

Makes one think about what's going on with the
management of the place. Just what kind of world do
they think they're living in?

It was a total failure of or lack of security.
Nothing both a clown show of keystone rent-a-cops.

For those of you that would like to make your home
cameras, routers and switches more immune to power cuts
than this place seems to have done...

Little 12 Volt Lithium battery backups for common 12V
Low power devices...

For your 12 volt devices under 3 Amps:

APC UPS Back-UPS Connect, VoIP, Modem and Router
Uninterruptible Power Supply Battery Backup (CP12142LI)
by Amazon.com (DC 12V, 3A)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HFML55/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_VQf3Db6G0N766

A Power supply for the above:
SUPERNIGHT(TM) 100V - 240V to DC 12V 5A Switching Power
Supply Adapter for LED Strip Light
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008FKDK2M/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_uSf3DbS1YSF95

And for your twelve volt devices under 2 Amps:

DC Input 12V 2A 12000maH 44.4W Mini UPS Uninterruptible
Power System for DVR, CCTV Camera, Router and ADSL
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CIO5L8M/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_UUf3DbZWR48Y2

A matched Power supply for the above:
TalentCell AC/DC 12.6V/2A Lithium Battery Charger for 3S 12V Rechargeable Li-ion Battery Pack
by Talentcell Technology
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P8DMSZ8/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_dXf3Db87JKDF2

If you’re using POE cameras, consider using substantial
UPS systems (AC) to keep your POE switches and Network Video
Recorders running.

I use these and other Uninterruptible Power Systems to
be able to keep my systems alive for many hours (or days)
after any power outage.

That last power supply above is actually for the Talentcell
Line of 12V mini UPS devices, but it is working well for
other mini UPS I listed.

Here is the Talentcell line:

A billion in jewels. Pshaaaaaaaw.

Low second runner up heist.

There was a Chinese Communist Party Secretary/former mayor who had $32 billion in cash plus 13 tons of gold in his ‘basement’ and it barely made the news cycle.

Either the Chi-Coms had a thirty billion dollar liquid asset slush fund for dirty deeds or the mayor is the biggest thief in history.

“SNIP

It’s pretty obvious they had inside help - from the Tiny Thieves Security Company. (How dumb can one be to hire THAT company!) ;)

I bought 4 security cameras for about $100 AT Wal Mart. Whenever the camera detects motion, it sends me an email, or a text if I choose. Perhaps the security “professionals” guarding this collection should head down to Wal Mart pronto.

One can only hope that the insurance companies were able to recuperate some of their losses through their taxes.
