Another FReeper asked me to post this on our thread. Opinions? I’d say if the threat was at all credible, I’d go ahead and call the local FBI office. As long as that local office isn’t the Hoover building.

Who thinks the FBI has been cleaned out? If you received an anonymous voicemail threatening “lethal action” would you report it to the FBI? If not, what action would you take?

First I’d ask if they were hearing correctly. “Legal action” would be more of a phrase I’d expect with out full understanding of the statement. Then proceed from there.

"threatening “Legal action”" doesn't say much.
If those where the exact words I would ignore it. Unless your friend is some how a threat to the establishment such as a white hat.

Depending on who your friend is would determine the action that needs or doesn't need to take place.

Remember a white hat could be someone that works at what seems to be a normal job not realizing some of the actions he/she could be doing.

I think I’d be inclined to ask around my social network … one of whom is a local Deputy Sheriff. I’d ask for the name of an F_ I agent that was patriotic, a Constitutionalist & trustworthy. I’d try to get 2-3 assessments of that person and then I’d go to them face to face.

Make a police report, but beyond that I wouldn't worry – unless there's more to it. Sadly, death threats are common.

Call the local sheriff. Unless he’s a rat. Then I would hire some armed security.
