I'm not sure how you meant it, but I'm going to have to remember that line.

None of us can predict the twists and turns our lives will take; how much we, or the people we love, will change; what strange things might come along to make, or break, or shoot us off into trajectories we hadn't expected or counted upon.

We just have to do the best that we can; and sometimes that involves breaking with the past and starting over.
