I have known many over the years that said it was a complete surprise to them. I find it hard to believe but have been told that many times.

We had a couple that were friends of ours, married about 10 years. Very affectionate when we were around them and she always seemed really happy. One day he called to see if we knew where she was, she packed and left while he was at work.

My best friend in high school...I stayed at her house quite a lot and her parents seemed happy. Her mother had an older daughter that lived in California and she didn’t get to see her much. My friend’s dad arranged a trip to CA for her to see her daughter, even included Disneyland tickets. When she got home divorce papers were in the mail box.

Have known other seemingly happy couples that didn’t make it and one partner seemed unaware.

I understand.

I just don’t believe that what we’re seeing is the truth, when it comes to such a high-profile couple.

In the very old days, the man often ‘took the fall’ for a failed marriage, to save the woman’s reputation.

Who knows what’s going on here? Maybe the husband isn’t the scoundrel that some appear to think; maybe it’s actually an amicable decision to divorce and move on, carefully engineered.

We don’t know, and probably never will.
