I remember a scene in the movie
The Man Who Came To Dinner (1942), starring Bette Davis and Monte Woolley, where Woolley's character at the dinner party (with an upset stomach) asks Davis' character if she happened to have "some bicarbonate of soda" for his upset stomach.
She directed him to a kitchen cabinet and told him to help himself to whatever he needed.

Inspector Queen used Tummy Fizz.
Shows I have no life since I can remember useless trivia from Ellery Queen.

1942, that was before any of the miracle drugs for acid stomach and acid reflux came on the market. In the service I would go to sick bay with stomach cramps and they gave a bottle of green liquid (can’t remember what they called it) and it was worthless. Just suffered or got some creme de cocoa and milk.

That particular scene is in “All About Eve”...
I just watched it about two weeks ago.
