It’s funny that my MD just told me last wk that baking soda should not be taken b/o the salt. But when I go to the hospital, first thing they hook me up to saline solution IV. Isn’t that table salt? Plus, if u google b.s. the first page is nothing but “health benefits of baking soda”
What gives?

The IV contained 0.9% NACL (normal saline) which is the amount of sodium that is in blood. If you go with straight water bad things happen due to osmosis trying to balance things back out in cells.

Normal saline is salt water that has the salt at the same amount in the water as salt is in your blood and body fluids. It is not added salt
