Imagine, you know someone who doesnt know anything about WW2, and you had to explain how the US was attacked at Pearl Harbor, the significance of Doolittles raid, the odds the US was up against the Japanese, how Intel helped us win the battle of Midway, and just how crazy, non-politically correct, and determined the Greatest Generation was - all in 2 hours.
Thats the movie Midway in a nutshell.
I saw the movie in an AMC Prime theater. The seats are big recliners and the sound system is awesome. My seat did shake with the movie explosions. It was $20 for the ticket and snacks. I think it was totally worth the price.
I am indebted to the Freeper Non Sequitur for recommending the book. As I recall, he gave a short book report and I went to Amazon and bought it.
Liberals just don't understand that evil exists and that there can be people who are dedicated to destroying you. The movie dedication tells me all I need to know.
Was it better than the last one?
IMHO, yes. There was no fictional love story plot around this movie - it was about the soldiers and sailors that fought in the battle. Some were just short snippets during the film, but Ive been told all those things actually happened (I wont spoil it).
My favorite movie since Saving Private Ryan
If it was another battle in another century and said, Dedicated to the Confederate and Union soldiers ... now that would trigger them.
I wish I had thought of that.
Haven’t seen the new Midway yet, but looking forward to it.
Agreed regarding the classics. I recall watching those epic films on a 13” black & white TV with rabbit ears when I was a kid. Those viewing experiences were no less intense than what’s produced today.
>> Kraut Bass tards got us into WWII when they bombed Pearl Harbor...
Irony far better than the self-hatred Disney and Universal/Comcast are forcing on us.
Lol, I took the recommendation here on FR as well...if it was you non sequitur, a heartfelt thank you for it!
My husband and I just saw it yesterday!!!
You encapsulated it PERFECTLY!
Awesome movie!!!
