Anyone know what “RIG FOR RED” might mean?
Anyone know what RIG FOR RED might mean?
IMHO it means everything is ready to go but sitting on Red till the tail end is all lined up...
Guys on Twitter said it a Navy term. Shut white lights off, and bring red lights up on a ship for charts. Also a sub marine, rig for red, so the guy can see out of the periscope. FWIW
From my Navy days it means setup the ship for night operations.
Anyplace with lights on used red lights to keep night vision for watch standers. Anyplace with a white light had a blackout curtain setup.
Sorry if someone already replied - I’m behind on the thread.
