Never heard of a “doss house” meaning flop house or boarding house.
AFAIK the pod cubicle rent doesn’t include meals, so considering occupants have no space to store groceries, they must buy restaurant food every meal— adding significantly to costs.
The common kitchen and dining room is separate so everyone eats together.
Wouldn’t be surprised if meals are included in the rent. I don’t have to buy food and snacks.
