Outlander is probably my #1 all-time favorite book & the rest of the series is excellent as well. I’ve seen some of the TV series episodes ... love the wardrobes, so I was glad to see Outlander-inspired patterns. If you do the shawl, please post some progress reports on the new thread, which hopefully looks like it will happen.

I want to make the fingerless gloves that Brianna wore. They are knit in the round, which I can do, but not very speedily. I have a baby blanket to finish (just the border, but it’s not a simple one) - baby due Thanksgiving. I also started a hairpin lace/crochet scarf to give me a break from the baby blanket. Once those are done, it’s fingerless glove time!! I introduced a friend to the Outlander book recently & she is majorly hooked & binge-reading ... I’d like to give her the gloves for a birthday present, which is in late November .... pressure is on!! :-)

I got the link (thanks!) & it opened. I like that one .... sort of “architectural” for lack of a better term .... not the ‘usual’. It’s an interesting piece ... can’t wait to see how it turns out for you!

It is different, not the usual triangular shawl, which is probably why I like it. I”LL let you know how it goes. ?et me know about your gloves.

I’m in “trouble” now .... I have publicly declared I’m doing those gloves so now I really have to do them ... LOL! I’m actually anxious to get going .... got some yarn recently that should work (similar to yarn in pattern with almost the same “GRIST”).

If you’ve never heard of ‘GRIST’, here’s what it is .... it’s really helped me when I can’t find or don’t want to use the yarn in the pattern.

I’ll nag her for the both of us. I’d like to find a SIMPLE pattern for crocheted finger-less gloves.

That would help me greatly, because with the kennel dogs, I’m always giving a pill, or checking this or that on them, (ticks, weird lumps, minor injuries, doling out treats, or just a much-deserved hearty ear scratch) and it would be nice to have finger-less gloves to do that for the winter months.

They’re inside of a building, so it’s not bitterly cold. I think that would be a good solution. Or even those mittens that you can pull back the flap to finger-less gloves?

I might be getting in over my head, here. And we’re not even ‘official’ yet, LOL! :)

Okie dokie - I have a "go to", very basic fingerless mitten pattern & I think they would work well for you.

I have given a lot of them away .... my brother got a pair for his birthday & wears them hunting all the time - I think they've even been on 3 New Mexico elk hunts, plus all the local white tail hunting. He even requested I make his business/hunting partner a pair for a Christmas gift. My niece (archery instructor & bow hunter) loves her pair that she wears hunting so much that when she lost one of her mittens and asked if I'd make her a replacement. I made her a whole new pair. I made a pair for a hiking partner - she has about worn hers out. There's more, but I'll stop now ....

As for the actual pattern, I made a bunch of these mittens before I got my patterns/projects organized. I do not think I have a link, but I typed up the pattern in a document along with some notes. I also found the notes from the pair I made for my niece (2016) after she lost one. I'm still scrounging around, but at the worst, I'll copy the directions off of my doc & PM it to you.

Too bad about Ravelry - I do miss some of its practical resource features and its method of cataloging my knitting projects. Hard to believe the TDS would take so many businesses over the edge, to the point where loss of revenue from the Deplorables and Reprehensibles was not only okay, but a badge of (dis)honor. HOpefully a viable alternative will be developed by normal adults.

All that said, Yes, sign me up, Diana, for this new thread.

btw- I just did a FR search for fiber arts and found this post from Knitting a Conundrum back in Oct2005- anyone know whatever happened with that thread?
