They are not scared. They know that Man takes them for a ride, ride ends, Dog gets to find ...bad guys...drugs...explosives...whatever. They are handsomely rewarded for their efforts.They do it because they love the Man or the Woman at the end of the leash.

That’s my thinking too. They’re as scared or excited as their human.

Some video of the dogs reacting when they see their human getting suited up would be telling.

I would guess the working dogs would be excited and happy like a house dog when I rattle the car keys....

Dogs. My assumption.

You start when they are very young and get them used to heights, start jumps when they are a few months old. If they can handle it they continue the program, if not they get sent trained to do other things.
