Superhero action will not be a feature of Midway. Dramatic explosions, unusual camera angles, and thrilling aerial maneuvers and combat are more what I have in mind. Hollywood knows that such sequences have appeal that transcend language and cultural barriers. And seeing Americans clobber the Japanese will be especially satisfying to the several billion people in Asia who have dismal cultural memories of Japanese conduct during WW II. Contrary to what many Americans are taught to assume, most people around the world like and admire us.
