IMO The battle of Midway has never been covered the way it should be. The 1970's movie used recycled footage from Tora Tora Tora and had the cheesy Japanese girlfriend story line.
No movie yet has adequately covered the sacrifice of the aviators that died enabling the SBDs to kill off the carriers.
Online reviews weren't too kind when viewing the trailers. To me they seem hyper technical but they are valid. Here is a sample:

Early reports and the teaser trailer indicate that they’re going to cover the sacrifice of the TBDs, as well as the preceding US carrier raids that everyone’s seemed to forget.
For those old people who haven’t kept track, the movie also shows the Japanese carriers correctly - turns out they weren’t caught with their entire air wings on deck. See the YouTube vid I posted above.

The best retelling of the story of Torpedo Three, Six and Eight I've ever seen is in the Herman Wouk novel, War and Remembrance and is largely repeated in the miniseries of the novel that ABC created and put on the air in 1988-1989. There are videos on YouTube showing highlights from Episode III, which deals with the battle of Midway, and tells the story of the three torpedo squadrons in some detail. I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link from YouTube, but if you search for War and Remembrance and Midway, or Episode III, you should be able to find them.

A young guy has a very good video on YouTube about Midway from the Japanese prospective... It’s really good. He layed it out perfectly... Nagumo only had minutes to make his choice of targets.

The men doing that duty knew what they had to do and stuck with it. Those are the
real super heroes. Enough with the movies about the make-believe ones.
Where do we get such men? They leave this ship and they do their job. Then they must find this speck lost on the sea. When they find it they have to land on its pitching deck. Where do we get such men?" -
