Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the ranking member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, sent a letter to State Department official Philip Reeker asking him to agree to move his deposition on a date when the House is in session. Reeker, the Acting Assistant Secretary of European and Eurasian Affairs, is set to appear on Saturday.
In the letter obtained by Townhall, Jordan accused House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) of purposefully moving Reeker's testimony to when some Republicans may not be able to appear to further isolate them from the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
Jordan wrote to Reeker how he was originally set to appear on October 23, but then agreed to move it to October 26, "when the House of Representatives will not be in session."
"We regret that we are compelled to seek this information from you; however, we have no confidence that Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff...is operating fairly or in good faith...Chairman Schiff has chosen to conduct his inquiry behind closed doors with only a limited group of Members present, allowing selective leaks of cherry-picked information to paint misleading public narratives."
"In light of Chairman Schiff's pattern of closely restricting information about the 'impeachment inquiry,' we can only assume that he selected Saturday's date to further limit Member attendance and participation at you deposition," Jordan wrote, asking Reeker to move the deposition date on a business day "to allow robust Member attendance and participation."
By scheduling interviews on the weekends, Chairman Schiff has proven to the American people that he has an unquenchable desire to rush this entire impeachment process no matter the consequences," a congressional source with knowledge of the impeachment inquiry told Townhall.
Do something about it
unintended consequences...
No kidding! Hey Jim stop coming up with excuses and step up. You know what they are doing and where. Be there or you don’t care.
Our Republic is at stake.
Here is a thought. The House is not in session, right. Is the Senate in session or are they out now?
Recess appointments of Judges.
Mitch has made damn sure there will be no recess appointments.
What the hell can he do? He’s in the minority. He’s one of the only ones on OUR side.
It doesn’t help to point out the unfairness of the process by whining about working weekends.
He can do the same thing the Freedom Caucus did the other day - storm the hearing or deposition room, disrupt the process, cause chaos in the House. He could also send staff to persuade the witness to not appear on Schiff’s date. There is probably much more he could do, but those are a few ideas.
Shifty!!!!!
What right does a Cognitional Committee have to meet with only members of one party in attendance?
A dumb Sh*t should be run out of Congress
It appears Trump and Pompeo are not too concerned about this, otherwise they would fire Reeker. They are entitled to Executive Privilege.
What the hell can he do? Hes in the minority. Hes one of the only ones on OUR side.
I dunno, perhaps convince mcconnel to start machine gun confirming judges since this is ultimately what this all about as a start
If the Impeachment Inquiry was on the up and up, and democrats were really trying to impeach Donald Trump, this secrecy baloney would not be happening. The democrats are using the ‘Impeachment’ tool simply to tarnish Trump before the November 2020 election. They do not have an impeachable offense that would work and even if they did it would go nowhere because it would not work in the Senate and the democrats know that. That is why you have seen no impeachment move that really matters. Pelosi will not allow a vote because it would fail.

Wishful thinking. POTUS will be impeached by the House sometime around New Years. And you can thank the do-nothing GOP Senate for green lighting it.
I know this is a stretch, but do you think Jordan is playing a little politics here? What better way to energize the base than to paint Schiff as an out of control maniac. (I know he is) Could they be seeing internals that independents are leaning more towards Trump and Republicans because of the blatant unfairness of the Dems?
Seems strange that Jordan, who is one of the more outspoken Reps, would sit on his hands and allow this to happen.
The only other reason could be the Horowitz report is going to be so damning to Schiff personally, Jordan is betting it will destroy everything the Dems are doing.
Jordan is one of the Republicans who is allowed in the deposition and allowed to ask questions.
No need to storm anything.
Sorry but they hardly work as it is. The entire committee should have shown up today to work. I cant believe they needed a day off after they just started work last week after two full weeks off for Columbus Day of all things.
