Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson had a couple of drinks with dinner before driving home and slumping over in his vehicle, Mayor Lori Lightfoot disclosed Friday.
One day after the police superintendent she inherited requested an internal affairs investigation of himself, Lightfoot refused to say whether Johnson should have been driving or whether he should have been given a sobriety test.
Lightfoot told the Chicago Sun-Times she would await the outcome of the internal investigation before determining whether the rules were bent to protect the boss and whether to hold Johnson responsible.

Rgr got it tnks!
yep
At least it was better outcome than dinner at Louie’s with Michael Corleone.
I dunno.
I’ve spent far too many hours sleeping in my car parked near a bar or restaurant after drinking too much.
BUT only after 40.
Before that you are RIGHT. Never occurred to me that it was so dangerous to everyone on the road.
But this guy should be a little older.
God in heaven.
So many on that department think that the first priority of the members of the CPD should have been to cover this up. And they’re open about it.
I’ve got a question: Why is this guy still on the payroll...
:)
You can say that again.
BUT
You weren’t Superintendent of Police of one of USA major cities.
Oh, where was his driver? and/or detail? Did he ‘ditch’ them?
I realize he is ‘human’ but should be held to a higher standard than us mere mortals OR AT LEAST the same standard.
I doubt in todays ‘atmosphere’ that you or I would be given a ‘break’ if found sleeping behind the wheel.
40 years ago, maybe a little slack now and again but not today.
This!
Officer: "Have you been drinking?"
Driver: Remain silent.
Officer: "Are you going to answer my question?"
Driver: Remain silent.
Officer: "Are you willing to take field sobriety tests?"
Driver: "No, sir."
Officer: "Please step out of the car."
Driver: "Am I under arrest?"
Officer: Yes or no, if he insists that you step out of the car do so, but don't take the field sobriety tests and don't utter another word. In most states, one is probably better off taking the breathalyzer at the station than declining.
Trust me on this.
Actually, the first effect of alcohol is REPETITION. Drunks say the same things over and over again. (Just kidding. :-))
Doesnt he have a car and driver?
You’re absolutely right.
I was under the assumption that he drove for a while before slumping.
I never even TURN ON my engine when I snooze after leaving a bar a little too buzzed.
It’s NOT often :)
But I have slept 3 or so hours before driving home.
That’s a good way to get killed :)
To do list...STOP SLEEPING IN MY CAR!!
Btt
In Colorado if you refuse the tests it’s a one year suspension of you licence.
“your”
Even if sleeping in the car, one can (and will) still get nailed for DUI if the keys are anywhere near the ignition. It’s a good idea to put the keys in the trunk or some other unreachable spot. Many people have gotten nailed for DUI while sleeping it off in a parking lot with the engine running to stay warm.
Rumors on SCC last night that Johnson left the scene, that his retirement will be announced today.
Bump.
