but I think the larger point was that many conservatives will be in denial if they find out that “conservative” politicians are Deep State/dirty.
Most real conservatives are Trump supporters (95% support among Rs for Trump) and I think most already know many of hte “conservative” pols are dirty. I don’t see this denial at all. I see more of a hunger for exposure of wrongdoing in DC no matter which party, and then justice served.

Going by history, it’s been almost exactly 180 degrees off that though.
Leftist politicals are criminal scum. Very nearly always. And blatantly so. And leftists don’t care for the most part.
But anything comes out against a “conservative” and that political’s constituants turn on him/her with a vengeance and out he/she goes.
Beware of psychological projection in written pieces. Leftists, both open and closeted, will *always* accuse the opposition of the crimes of their own side and claim the honor and/or integrity of their opposition as their own.
