One pound of mass turned to energy would yield a 10 mega ton blast. I mention this because the energy density of a magnastar is 10000 times that of lead. If I somehow turned a bar of lead into pure energy the field strength is 10000 times more energetic. Atoms in such a field get stretched so they are 100 times longer than wide. Needless to say the strongest maganetic field ever made by people is millions of times weaker.
