President Trump on Wednesday criticized the Kurds, saying they didn't help the United States during World War II and that they were only fighting for their land in Syria during the battle against ISIS.
“The Kurds are fighting for their land,” Trump told reporters at the White House during an event in the Roosevelt Room.
“And as somebody wrote in a very, very powerful article today, they didn’t help us in the second World War, they didn’t help us with Normandy as an example. They mentioned names of different battles. But they’re there to help us with their land and that’s a different thing.”

And was abandoning South Vietnam the right decision? Today Vietnam is a strong, growing, peaceful country. As I recall there was widespread repression and bloodshed after the US pulled out, and the way that the US pulled out left us traumatized internally and discredited internationally.
The US keeps its troops throughout Europe. I don’t know why we couldn’t have had a transition from direct military engagement in Syria to providing help to the non-Communist Kurds in other ways.
Still, from the day that President Trump declared his intention to run for President until today, this is the first decision that he has made with which I disagree. He is the best President the US has had since at least the 1950s when I was born.
Maybe we should help them develop a capitalist system instead of only cowardly using them as human shields and then stabbing them in the back.

As to if we can get other people to fight for us, except for a few staunch allies the answer is no. It has always been no and will be no forever.
With the Kurds the answer was no. They didn’t fight for us. They fought for their land.
That is the only way people fight for us. If it is in their own best interest. I know I am being Machiavellian but the world is what the world is.

If you think back a bit the Taliban was a big ally too against the Russians. How did that work out for us.

US Troops may have gotten out of Turkey’s way, but our troops didn’t leave, but merely moved to Deir Ezzor, and Al Tanf. I want us completely out of Syria. Out , Out, Out.

When we are done with the border wall send those contractors over there and build a wall around the Middle East. They can kill each other to their hearts content... over there.
