The article went on for paragraph after paragraph before giving any inkling of where this “fast moving fire” might be located. The San Fernando Valley is a very large, sprawling part of Greater Los Angeles. NBC continues to do terrible news reporting.

Here’s what caused one fire in Calimesa (not the San Fernando Valley):

Power companies on Thursday began expanding fire-prevention blackouts to the southern part of the state, but neither of the blazes were said to have been caused by power lines. The fire in Calimesa was caused by a trash truck that dumped a load of burning trash that spread into vegetation, officials said.
