The NSA may not need to “crack” anything. If the company you buy the product from is an Intel Front they could slip assembly language code in there that would cc them everything. I suspect that would be extremely hard to find.
ALL router manufacturers, chip makers etc. would need to be in on it. When the WH can’t stop leaks you think the millions of people that would be involved would stay mum? None of them would be for sale and would sell the secrets to black hats? I call a big nope on that. Is the backbone tapped? You bet your sweet bippy. Is it easy to decrypt RSA 2048?
