The first four Zeppelin albums and Houses of the Holy were all great. (It's strange to be talking about albums isn't it?) But Physical Graffiti started the decline. I suppose it's hard to maintain a high level of creativity and artistry, one only has so much within oneself. I mean, The Stones haven't done anything of note since Some Girls, and that was forty years ago (personally, I think they peaked with Exile on Main Street).

If you threw out the really bad tunes from Physical Graffiti like Boogie With Stu and The Rover, you'd have a solid single album.
As for the Stones not doing anything good since 1978, as I mentioned previously, that's not true - they did Bittersweet Symphony.
