When I was a teenager (and that was a LONG time ago), they used to sell “burgers” at the concession stand at the drive-in movie theater. I have no doubt that there was NO meat in those, but I did like them.
That said, I don’t think I will waste money or calories on the BK version, but thanks for the review.
So, it’s basically like the regular BK burger? :D
A burger place that is selling non meat sandwiches.
“Stupid is as stupid does”. Forest Gump.
I dont eat dog sh/t. I dont try to make my food look like dog sh/t or taste like dog sh/t.
Why? Because I dont like dog sh/t.
If people dont like meat for any reason then why would they try to make their food taste like meat and look like meat? Its not even cheaper! Sure I like to eat imitation crab because its a lot cheaper. Its just flavored fish so I have no problem eating it.
Thanks for taking one for the team!
Personally, I have zero desire to try it.
re: “Why...tell me why...Vegans, who purportedly hate meat.... WHY are they always looking for alternatives to meat? Why do they care? “
Still looking for that first girl they kissed ...
“burger leaves a nasty after taste and a nasty after smell.”
I had two and they tasted like the beef Whopper. No after taste or smell.
I was in Germany when they had the mad cow thing going on and they didnt sell real whoppers for a while. I tried one of the vegan whoppers and could not make it through one bite. The fake ones sucked 20 years ago bad enough I dont want to try another one.
Anything that is a substitute for something else is going to be loaded with salt or sugar. They do that b/c otherwise it wouldn’t be palatable.
According to Impossible Foods, one 4-ounce Impossible burger patty contains 240 calories, 19 grams of protein, 9 grams of carbohydrates (3 grams of which are fiber), and 14 grams of fat (0 grams of which are trans fat).
Compare that to one 4-ounce grass-fed burger patty, which, according to the USDA, contains 224 calories, 22 grams of protein, 0 grams of carbohydrates (and so 0 grams of fiber), and 14 grams of fat (0.8 grams of which are trans fat, but the natural kind, and yes there are natural forms of trans fat).
So is the Impossible burger healthy? Sure. Is it healthier than a grass-fed beef burger? Well, no. Because theres nothing really all that wrong with the occasional grass-fed beef burger either.
10% less!
Geez, I need to let people do their homework. Teach you to fish instead of giving you one:
“The patty itself is made from Impossible Foods’ signature burger blend which includes soy protein, potato protein, coconut oil, sunflower oil, salt, yeast and a variety of emulsifying agents. The key, not-so-secret ingredient is heme, an iron-rich molecule that gives Impossible burgers a meaty taste.”
I prefer the burgers my wife grills. :)
Soft served veggie patties are an abomination. I can tolerate a crunchy fried one once in a blue moon, but soft? Blech....
I don’t need to smell crap to know that it stinks.
