Was dark morning with light rain that kept most people out of the woods.
Which made for a really nice ride. Looking forward to many more such rides as the colder months arrive,

I don’t know what the story is with this hunk of “LOVE” (welded plates) is about.
Was moved from the other end of the building.
The building is a landmark warehouse that used to take imports from Africa.
Now it’s been turned into condos. It is right on the water so people living there dock their boats to it.
Later, I got my new bicycle’s flat tire fixed. :)
Later, I got my new bicycle’s flat tire fixed. :)Was 18 euros so I gave him 20.
When the war is over the tales our cyclist warriors have to tell will be amongst the most inspiring in the annals of this stupendous conflict. The reasons of the success of the soldier-cyclist are not far to seek. In the fist place it must be realised that his mount, unlike that of the cavalryman, is silent in progress. This gives him an enormous advantage over his noisy foe, whose horse betrays his presence even when galloping over grassland. In short, the cyclist can hear and not be heard. He can approach speedily and noiselessly, and without warning can attack the enemy, who, all unconscious of his presence, often falls an easy prey.
But silence is by no means the cyclists sole advantage. He has a good turn of speed, which is a factor useful alike in attack and retreat. A cyclist in warfare is really a mounted infantryman, and, generally speaking, he is superior in point of speed to the heavily-accoutred cavalryman, while, of course, the ordinary infantryman is snail-like by comparison. Should his attack fail for the time being, or receive an unexpected or momentary check, the cyclist can easily beat a retreat, and by a circuitous route come upon his foe again at another point, where, perhaps, he is least expected. Thus he can be said to possess to a marked degree the power to cut and come again which faculty is eminently useful in war.
Again, the ability to take cover often spells the difference between victory and defeat, and here the cyclist scores distinctly. He has but to lay his mount down flat upon the ground and it is practically invisible.

Today: 18.19 miles. What’s funny about this picture is there are many people sitting and laying on the grass but two guys drinking beers were throwing a a frisbee from the right and left to each other. Meanwhile women with babies are on the grass near them and even an old man in a wheelchair. Nothing bad happened (they were actually good) thankfully, while I ate a banana. If it were me the old man would be knocked backwards and angry moms would be chasing me down the street.

I have a lot of pictures because I went urban exploring but I won’t post all of them because it is too many and you only want to see The Best.
Was a very nice sunny day.
A little too sunny for my camera so some pictures I enhanced to tone down the brightness and haze which made some colors more vibrant.
I also cropped some pictures so the art can be seen better, which eliminates sense of scale. Some paintings are much larger than they look.
But first I rode through the park and woods,
I saw them building the middle section and I thought it might be for a band making a music video (which I seen done a couple of years ago) but instead they parked two house-boats to it:

You can see this large tree in the woods is damaged:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48719116047_65973870f4_k.jpg
This is the other side:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48719116937_10476f00bc_k.jpg
This was the first time I was on this path in the woods, so I took a closer look at the tree:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48718609948_47a4683a6d_k.jpg
After I took the picture it struck me that this tree is badly damaged and could fall on me.
I suddenly got a little panicked and when I turned to get my bicycle there was a loud roar of a noise that scared the crap out of me.
I thought the tree was falling and looked which way to jump.
Turned out the noise was a chainsaw not so far away.
I got on my bicycle still alarmed with my adrenaline pumping.
I was zipping through the woods like the wind when there was a class of small children ahead of me.
That trail is not wide so I rode into the woods, through the bushes, thick cover of fallen leaves, soft dirt, fallen branches, etc, like it was nothing and got ahead of them and back on the trail.
They won’t see a display like that again!
I was out of the woods quick and will not take that path in the future.
There are plenty of other ways to go.
At where I call the graffiti wall:

I used to visit here, by “Molecule Man” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molecule_Man_(sculpture)).
It’s a nice place where there is more graffiti constantly going up.
But then they started construction and gated the area off and I wasn’t into climbing gates.
But now they are mostly done and it opened up again.

I just got a pop-up window saying my device is going to restart at some point, to update.
Consider this Part 1 with Part 2 coming tomorrow.
Good night!
18.19 miles ride Part 2 (9/11/19),

A bit of an over view shot. I’ll try to make a better one soon:

I looked for skulls but didn’t find any...
Come home with a burnt skull in my bicycle basket.
The corner on the other side of the wall is where the bridge is.
It gets hairy traffic-wise, sometimes I walk my bike across rather than risk riding.
I moved on urban exploring to a place I seen many times from the train, this is two floors tall:

I seen this zombie rat many times from the train and once when I crossed the bridge to get a tattoo.
I found that to get to it I needed to be down at the train tracks.
Technically people are not allowed there but I am an American urban exploring:

I was not the only one...
There were signs that others been there too like a trampled down thorn bush and a thin rod snipped out of the fence for a better camera shot:

Dinner is ready (chicken and rice). Looks like there needs to be a part 3 to this post....
18.19 miles ride Part 3 (9/11/19),
One more Zombie Rat picture:

I wondered if these painted windows were for the taking but I wasn’t in a position to take them:

Heading home I made these pictures at a car wash.
At one point I was blocking three cars from entering but they remained quiet while I stepped forward and back to get the right camera shot.
If I let them go they would be blocking my shot.
They didn’t honk me.

These tossed out painted boards looked interesting but I wasn’t in a position to take them,
I might get a cargo wagon to hitch to my bicycle.

The End.
I rode 4.76 miles today but I didn’t take a single picture because my body was a bit aching from ripping through the woods yesterday.
When you have adrenaline flowing why waste it?
4.7 miles, another old tree but at least this one isn’t 80 feet tall,

The Le Col Vuelta Challenge ended yesterday.
Now I know I finished in the top 35% of 179,376 participates with 242 miles compared to the 75 required to complete.

I joined another challenge that started some days ago and my distance of those days is already added on.
Which means I have 37 miles of 60 required to complete.
The ROKA Summer 60

Some challenges are insane and way above my skill level:
September Cycling Distance Challenge
Athletes that ride over 1,250 km (777 miles) during the Challenge will earn a badge in their Trophy Case.
I could do MAYBE half that - LoL!
Still working on The Escape Plan Challenge with two weeks successfully completed.
https://www.strava.com/challenges/the-escape-plan
I like doing these Challenges and see what position I end up at.
People are joining these Challenges from many parts of the world.
