"Its important to stress that this doesnt paint Florida as out of the woods yet," said Kathryn Prociv, a meteorologist for NBC News.
"Florida is still very much in the red zone," she added.
Dorian will continue westward through the weekend but is then forecast to turn northward as it approaches the east coast of Florida early next week, the center said. It will bring "risks of life-threatening storm surge, devastating hurricane-force winds, heavy rainfall and flooding along its path."
As of the NHC's 8 a.m. ET advisory Saturday, the storm was located 280 miles east of the northwestern Bahamas and 445 miles east of West Palm Beach.
The latest forecast track has narrowed the "Cone of Concern," as Miami-Dade County no longer faces the threat of the center of the hurricane. Parts of Broward County, including Fort Lauderdale, remain in the possible path of a Dorian landfall, according to the NHC.

Looks like Anderson Cooper of CNN has staged this report in the photo.
He's on his knees to make it look like the water is much deeper than is actually is.
But then I'm sure Cooper is used to being on his knees from what I hear.

Watch out, Martha’s Vineyard! Ha! Maybe weather manipulation is real and Trump is steering it to MV.

Personal attack- how original. Are you a hype loving meteorologist by any chance? Ever BEEN in a hurricane? Evacuated more than once a year? Had your home go under15 ft of water? Lost a parent because of a hurricane? Watched local buffoons call a monster like Katrina and approaching 'blustery day'? My opinion of todays meterologists is below that of lawyers. The latter benefit from the misery of others-the former CAUSE much of it then shrug off the blame as 'estimations'.
Until recently NOTHING was named until it had a CLOSED circulation-not an area of storms with TS force winds. They DO name any cluster of storms with TS force winds, just blobs with no center. Once you presume to foresee named storms, why wouldn't you name everything? Odd, too, that they feel confident in predicting EXISTENCE of storms months ahead, but not behavior of existing storms days -or even hours-away.
Contradictory, too, that 'remnant lows'(some of which never should have been named) are tracked damn near to England.
I really don't care what someone who is a name on a screen thinks of me. When people can't argue with facts they typically resort to personal attacks.

That was meant as a sarcastic joke. PEI was the cherry on top. Merely illustrating the lengths the left will go to in order to flog AGW.

We;ve had very bad hurricanes in CT, We went 9 dye with no power after Irene. And Sandy was not fun.
We also have tornados. Last year, we had a tree come down on the house and go through the roof during a tornado. Really not fun
Mr Kitty was in room right under where the tree hit.
Tree guy never saw a root ball hat big. 15 feet by 40 feet.

Georgia and the Carolinas need to pray the storm turns away from them too, and fizzles out over the ocean.

Just a little shook up. But what a nightmare. At least the tree didn’t go through the ceiling.

People do get their @sses on their shoulders on these hurricane threads.
Don’t dare imply that any hurricane might not be a complete disaster, you’ll get attacked, called names.
Why, you might even be a “down-caster.”
It’s weird.

A storm like this could ruin the fall fishing season at Cape Lookout National seashore. Mess up the ferry docks and islands’ infrastructure.
