But it would seem like the active trial has to end if the defendant is dead.
That is the court ending the trial, not prosecutor ending his ongoing investigations.
Prosecutors, maybe Barr, can’t remember, said right after Epstein died (or whatever) that obviously the case against him personally is over, but all the evidence obtained will be (or is being) used to follow up all crimes committed.
Since Epstein is dead (unless etc about which I have no opinion), obvious he can’t be on trial.

Prosecutors aid they will follow the evidence and be investigating and have asked for any victims to come forward. Obviously because there are many others besides Eps who committed crimes.
