Mary Taft lives with her two daughters, seven cats and two dogs in a mansion in Panama and she wouldnt have it any other way.
But the former teacher and school administrator didnt always know that a Panamanian retirement was in store for her. Indeed, as she consulted with her two adult daughters about where to move, dozens of spots were on the table. We had this blue-sky conversation where can we all go and live together? the 63-year-old former Springfield, Mass., resident recalls. Canada was out because it was too cold. We wanted the tropics because we were sick of winter. We ruled out Asia because it was too far and [because of] the language barrier. Australia was too expensive.
The Spanish speaker had been to Latin America numerous times, and her older daughter, a musician, worked a lot in Brazil, so they began looking around there. They ruled out Belize because of a lack of infrastructure, and Costa Rica because of its cost and poor track record with health care, according to Taft. But Boquete, Panama a lush, mild-weather town in the Panamanian highlands thats popular with expats checked nearly all their boxes.
The U.S. has gotten so out of control the social fabric is shattering, she says. It is an act of insanity to continue to stay in the U.S., she adds, noting that in Panama crime is low, you see guns less frequently, and life can be more affordable.

‘you see guns less frequently”
Good luck with that one...
Springfield. MA is one of the most dangerous cities in the US.
If she just moved ten miles out of town she would have been fine.
And “Banco de Panama” can empty your “Banco” account with no problemo!
See ya!
Because,
like all democrats,
she voted her home state to hell
and needed somewhere else to destroy.
Uruguay is a better choice. Chile also.
On the whole, I didn't see it as that much cheaper than the US. At least, not much cheaper than the cost of living where I resided at the time. (AZ)
It was OK. I didn't fall in love with the place but enjoyed it enough.
A lot has changed in the US in 7 years though. In particular, for me, the over crowding everywhere. I may have to revisit the idea.
Its all fun and games in a third world chit hole until your body becomes a rotting corpse in a ditch somewhere.
Even with as disconcerting as some things are getting here in the U.S., I would definitely place my bet on the long term stability of the United States over any small central american nation. Also, internal political risks aside, you are far too close to Venezuela, Columbia, Honduras and Nicaragua, all places with a lot of various types of instability. Currently Venezuela tops that list, but they have each had problems. I may be ignorant of Panama’s other strong points and assets, but it is small, and other than having a canal with global significance, there is no reason to expect it to be some stable and defensible powerhouse.
Turd world people can be a covetous bunch....
Seeing an American with plenty of bucks move-in makes the natives restless on who is going to raid the place first.
She looks like a masculine Hillary voter.
Even with as disconcerting as some things are getting here in the U.S.

The Fake News is disconcerting. The reality is much better.
And seems like the 63 yo catwoman is in charge. Sorry but those turd worlders only really respect male power. They will rob her blind. Hopefully thats all she will loose.
Because,

You’ve got that right, but I bet she still votes for Dems in the US.
Teacher AND screwl ADMINISTRATOR. She was probably knocking down a good deal more than you imagine a teacher makes plus a pension for life with essentially no risk. Nice work if you can get it and all on the back of the taxpayer courtesy of the NEA.
Google poor Panama. Makes Detroit look like Malibu.
No rule of law down there. One revolution away from having her assets taken or restless natives go after her gringo skin
