Freaky personal experience as a FreeQ Exclusive - I checked in to a large downtown hotel last night. Using good situational awareness, I scanned the floor as I approached my room at the very end of the hall and was satisfied that nobody was around. I used the keycard and opened the door.
As I stepped in, I was met with a strong bitter odor, and I exclaimed out loud “what is that terrible smell?” I considered getting a different room, but didn’t want the hassle. Changed out of dress clothes and sat down to watch football on the TV.
A few minutes later, I hear a knock on the door. I look out and two hotel female employees are there, one holding some electric doohickey. I open the door and they ask - “did you request a smoke odor removal device?”
I was so taken aback that I didn’t even consider that it might be useful. I hadn’t called anyone and there was nobody around. No thanks I said. Freaky eh?
Listening devices in every room is the only explanation.

Well, that makes one wonder. What else are they listening in on?
Spook -ee!

My bet is it was ordered by the person who rejected that room before you took it, and decided the device wouldn’t help enough and was given a new room.
