Addressing Mental illness in all its forms should matter, as much as any other pathology of the body. Perhaps if we ignore the suicide rate, then ignoring mass murder can also remain just a sympathetic musing and then we’re off and done with that outcome and its Cause, but at least our gun rights are safe, nevermind, won’t long fly.
Unfortunately, the continuing link to the neglect of the criminally insane in these mass shooters with obvious-insanity-gone-ignored, situations guarantee the commencement of a battle Royale. The insane can not have guns, we can bank that.
The two are going to be linked and Stuffed down our throat, whether we like it or not, because wherever a society is un-churched and Godless, it’s a certainty that the Laws are going to Fill that Void.

Japan addresses my point— that Laws are gonna replace laxity for an ignored threat history among the criminally insane, and certainly will be coming to a theater near you.
