WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday called on lawmakers to pass strong gun background checks after two mass shootings over the weekend killed 29 people and sought to blame the nation’s rising violence and divisions on the media.Trump, who is scheduled to deliver public remarks later on Monday following the attacks, appeared to dismiss accusations following the two shootings in Texas and Ohio that his rhetoric has stoked racial hatred and provoked attacks amid a deepening political divide. On Saturday, a gunman killed 20 people at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas, in what authorities said appeared to be a racially-motivated hate crime. Just 13 hours later, another gunman in downtown Dayton, Ohio, killed nine people. Dozens were also wounded in both attacks.

A smart move is to improve our background checks, require schools to input data to a federal database. Federal money for an armed security guard at every school. That’s the kind of the bill Republicans should pass and it shows that they are doing something and it will be at their terms.

Ah, he’s gotta something, even if it’s about passing a redundant bill.

Need to re-open the crazy houses too. But the Democrats would object, as most of their base would be put away.

Yeah, I see this as trump just being a politician, calling for what we already have until the shock dies down and other stories dominate the news.

Sometimes the Federal Government response needs to be limited to “mourning with the states in which it happened”.

The states can handle this stuff. They don’t need the FedGov’s intervention.

I have supported President Trump 100%. If he gets on the gun control wagon, I will NOT vote for him again.

Mental health records are protected by HIPPA and cannot be discovered unless you were adjudicated mentally ill by a court, which is very rare. Usually it’s just a doctor and it doesnt proceed to court.
As for school records, schools that teach them to be homos and trannies, ruthlessly root out anything Christian, teach that islam is peace, and sing songs of praise to Obama. Who in their right mind trust them to be able to deny your constitutional rights?

“...how about our leaders start acknowledging this is the result of removing God out of our public consciousness...”

Exactly! Progressives own this as this is their “utopia”. Spoiled, radical kids that live in this fantasy world where an type of difference is considered “unfair”. They fill the void in their soul with empty deceit.

Matthew 12:43-45:

43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”

“...require schools to input data to a federal database.”

May be too much logic in that for politicians to swallow.

There is presently a bevy of Federal laws and Federal judge rulings that, under no circumstances, would permit that. It might damage the student’s self-esteem.

Wonder if Trump could direct resources by EO toward mental health as well, which most reasonable people believe to be a root cause factor.

I personally believe bad parenting (especially absent fathers) to be the biggest factor, but it is impossible to go back in time and correct that, so we are left with the poor choice of trying to impose prior restraint or suffering the inevitable consequences.

No, you will not collect information about my son/daughter and provide it to the federal government.
