Heres a quote..Representative John Ratcliffe, Republican of Texas, had said on his House website and in campaign material that he had tried suspects accused of funneling money to the Hamas terrorist group. But instead, an aide said, Mr. Ratcliffe had investigated side issues related to an initial mistrial, and did not prosecute the case either in that proceeding or in a successful second trial.

I read the whole article. Sounds as though he is prone to exaggerated self puffery at times...not a good quality. Maybe tolerable in a congresspeep as long as he votes the right way, but not tolerable in a DNI.

“Fished = fudged. Stupid autocorrect”
Actually, “Fished” pretty much works in discussions about “enhancing” your resume.

Maybe youre right about the fished thing. I just know that my Alma mater was foolish to not have properly vetted George OLearys resume before hiring him and looked deservedly stupid when they let him go after a short period of time.
Personally, theyd have gotten a lot more mileage by doing the Christian thing by forgiving OLeary and putting him on a very short performance leash. But thats just me. Those in charge at Notre Dame were perched high upon their horses.
So back to Ratcliffe p, he should have learned from the OLeary mess and made certain his resume was properly stated. But for so many in Washington DC, they get these moronic big egos and think theyre bullet proof.
