This should put more offense into the game because umps usually call the plate as if it’s 16 inches wide, or at least 14 to my observation.

I think if they call it by the rulebook electronically it there will be a lot of 13 inning 1-0 games played in two hours. Maybe that’s an exaggeration, but they haven’t called the rulebook strike zone for decades. Top of the zone has been cut off. If it actually is a rule book zone, it’s going to take a while for them to adjust.

They generally seem to favor pitchers on the plate width and batters on the strike zone height, but I've seen some awful calls both ways. Some umpires also seem to favor certain teams. So, all in all, I see this as a good thing, at least at the MLB level.
What will the umpires do about it? Go on strike?
