GILROY, Calif. (Reuters) - Police continued on Tuesday to look into what motivated a teenager to shoot visitors attending a popular California food festival over the weekend, killing three people, including a 6-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl.Santino William Legan, 19, cut through a fence at the Gilroy Garlic Festival on Sunday and shot people, seemingly at random, with an assault-style rifle, according to the Gilroy police department. Police officers on the scene fatally shot the gunman within about a minute of him opening fire. Police had obtained search warrants for a home in Gilroy associated with the suspect and a car they believe he drove to the festival, a decades-old annual event celebrating the produce farmed in the countryside south of San Jose.

“It’s a mystery. We just don’t know his motive. We may never know.”
They haven’t given a motive for the Vegas shooter yet.
A raving lib of my aquaintence posted on FB that he was a white supremacist.
Ever been through Gilroy? I have and the aroma of garlic is very strong. More at certain times than others. To some people it may be offensive. Like to a vampire.
That's it! The perp is a vampire who went berserk over the smell of garlic!!
I guess he really, really hated garlic.
The motivations of people suffering from mental illness don’t need explanations grounded in the rational world. That’s why they call it mental illness.
Seems to happen. A lot.
You didnt say this Skywise, but security theater suggests that the public is being frauded with respect to appearance of security.
Since California mandates gun free zones, corrections welcome, California needs to do the following.
California needs to require fence manufacturers to post fence compromise ratings near entrance to fenced areas. It takes min. 5 minutes to open a four square foot hole through this fence, for example.
Gilroy probably didnt have drones flying outside fence, the fence probably under trees in some spots. But drones would at least give whoever was watching fence a roller-coster thrill, public safety a priority, instead of security people daydreaming while watching boring camera monitors.
I know! Maybe security people could participate in drone time races for circling fenced area. Extra points for maneuvers. Again, public safety a priority.
Sorry for the somewhat whimsical suggestions, but I hope that somebody gets inspired enough to develop technology to help prevent loss of life.
> Oh, in a perfect world, garlic could be used to ward-off liberals and their ilk.
It works if you throw it hard enough!
The man on the TV said he’s one of them White Supremo Cysts. So that settles it, I reckon.
I bet that is it. Garlic. Bone deep hatred of Garlic.
The family and I drove through Gilroy once and tried some garlic ice cream. It was exactly as advertised. Glad I tried it, don’t ever plan to eat it again.
True. That story has been buried very deep. There are lots of things common people are not suppose to know about Vegas.
Well, for that matter, would work if you poured enough on top of them.
Well, some maniacs hate cans, some maniacs hate garlic.
I live across the street from this event and have doubts about second shooter.
This place crawls with uniform LEO inside and outside.
And there is an extended perimeter.
There isn’t a way to escape detection.
There are even police and sheriff Explorers controlling areas surrounding
He would have been seen
There were conflicting descriptions of the shooter and I suspect the 2nd man is erroneous
Regardless of the reason that’s ginned up, we all know what the only solution will be.
You know, the solution that has never worked and never will work.
That’s pretty much the way it is with garlic ice cream. You have to try it once. And that’s about enough.
First, check his connection with father & mother.
Second, check for Ritalin or another mood prescription.
Nearly every mass shooter has one or both factors.
He was addicted to a drug, a terrorist, or both.
