Inyo County, California — A Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter jet went down in Death Valley National Park Wednesday.

The U.S. Navy aircraft crashed on the west side of Death Valley National Park, near the Father Crowley Overlook, KNTV reported.

Pilot condition unknown. Rescue crews dispatched from China Lake.

I stood there a few years ago and finally got the John the Baptist in the desert thing. Prayers for the pilot.
