The world of elite chess has been engulfed in a cheating scandal after a picture emerged of a top grandmaster sat on a toilet using a mobile phone during a tournament.
Police are investigating after Igors Rausis, who has represented Latvia, Bangladesh and the Czech Republic, was caught 'red-handed' in France, the game's governing body Fide said.
Phones are banned at chess tournaments because of chess software that can be used to suggest winning moves.
Rausis, aged 58, had aroused suspicion by reaching the game's top echelon at an age most players decline in strength.

What a weirdo!
Looking at PAWN on the toilet?!?!?!?!?!
Everybody else looks a Pr0n!......................
When did the word “sat” replace “seated” as used in this article? I see it all the time - “He was sat in the back row,” “We were sat by the hostess in a booth,” etc. He was seated on the toilet (or the back row), and the hostess seated you in a booth.
Well, at least he wasn’t looking at the queen. Or the king. Would’ve been weird.
What did Rick offer him for it?
Probably the same time “hung” replaced “hanged”. Too much trouble to teach kids all the conjugations when we can simplify them and have more time for political indoctrination.
It’s perfect for us. A small family place, good food. Everyone minds his business. Perfect. They’ve got an old-fashioned toilet. You know, the box and the chain thing. We might be able to tape the phone behind it.
2 points for the GF reference.
Love, Fredo
I see what you did there..................
Disagree.
“Hanged” is always mandatory when describing someone being executed, never otherwise.
“Sat” as an adjective is simply always wrong.
There is no way this headline can be read aloud in New England without misleading people as to the offense.
Pwned!
ok- first of all, how in the heck did someone get a ‘picture of him sitting on a toilet’?
second of all, how in the heck did someone get a ‘picture of him sitting on a toilet’?
Not with his pants on...
Read the article much?
Yeah i did- My question still remains- why are they taking snaps of anyone in a bathroom? Kinda pervey creepy-
Seeing a man about a horse? (knight)
The English often have different ways of writing and speaking. I read that quite a bit though it does always looks odd.
My point bob- was that someone, even officials, taking a photo of him- over a stall, while he is in the bathroom- is invasion of privacy- it’s creepy- it’s pervey- Yeah, he was on the toilet- but still- snapping shots of someone over a wall in a restroom is not cool-
