A father chased after a car thief who stole a vehicle with his children inside and then beat him to death with help from bystanders Thursday night in Philadelphia, police said.
The ordeal began around 9 p.m. when a 25-year-old woman parked her Hyundai outside a pizza shop on 29th and Dauphin streets. The woman went inside the shop to visit her 25-year-old boyfriend who worked there but left her three young children inside the running vehicle, police said.
Lived there for 57 years and worked days and nights in the streets, backyards, rooftops and basements of some rather “colorful” neighborhoods. Swore that when I retired I would emigrate to America.......I did!
More of that, less crime.
There is nothing on the ground floor of my house worth dying for. Start up the stairs and the rules change.
“Its just a matter of perspective.”
My expression of that has been for decades— There are more white niggas than black...It’s a way of life, not a color of skin !
Well said. Statistics can be used to support anyone’s perspective.
Of course, everyone has a bias. We all read a story and fill in the blanks with our own experiences.
These days, I try not to jump to conclusions because, several times, my own assumptions were wrong. And often the original story turns out to be wrong.
So, right now I’m questioning why a 54yo man would jump into a car and take off. Seems kind of old for a car thief. And he went only a 1/2 block before hitting traffic, so he had to see the traffic and know he wouldn’t get far. Was he a car thief? A kidnapper? Or was he mentally ill? Or was he drunk and just got into the wrong car? Or, maybe he was never really in the car... So many questions. Hope some video is found.
Okay. So then, adding to the list of questions (in my post above):
Could he have been... a car thief? Kidnapper? Mentally ill? Drunk/tired (wrong car)? Never actually in the car?
Or just an opportunist?
Hope the police figure it out.
All relevant and good questions. Perhaps a career criminal who had recently gotten out of prison? Perhaps he was high at the time of the crime? I’m sure there is video. Either from a local business or from handheld camera phones. It will be interesting to see how this develops. If it was straight-up street crime, I hope there is no prosecution.
On another thread addressing this I asked where Daddy was. Good for him; there for his kids!
Time to Outlaw Assault Fists?
The new Democrat poster boy.

If there were a prize, you'd win it. It turns out:
The man had a lengthy arrest record and drug problems. (Tests are being run to check for drugs in his system.) And, of course, video was posted on social media.

Glad the kids are all right.
The blame rests with the criminal - you’re right on that:
“According to officials, Hood had at least 24 prior arrests and convictions.”
If you had read an earlier post of mine you would have discovered that I have lived in Japan since 1985 .
Your world is still small if you espouse the beliefs that a woman having 3 children and no boyfriend or husband is rare. I could care less if you lived in 51 countries. Just because you lived in Japan doesn’t mean you got out very much in Japan and met people. How very naive of you to think location translates to an expanded world. It’s not location it is what you do at that location that expands your world. Apparently, you didn’t get out very much even in Japan to think like this.
I have spoken to people all over the world. People from Australia, Singapore, people from the Middle East and Europe, from South America to Eastern Europe. And yet, I have never been outside the USA. I have met many women around the world not married with 3 or more children. I have also met unmarried men who were raising 3 or more children and no wife. Like I said it doesn’t matter where you lived, it matters how you got out and met people. I reiterate you live in a small world. You lived in Japam...bah! You might as well have lived on the moon asfar as anyone cares.
Are you dyslexic and autistic ?
I don’t follow anyone on here so your reference to an earlier post is stroking your own ego. You want to equate your living in Japan as “getting out” in the world. Wow man, you are really that small. You need to really get out sometime and see the world and meet people. Not everything is limited to your 50 square foot bedroom with a computer. Your ad hominem attack, by the way, is against the terms of this board and should be reported. But I am not that shallow. Maybe if you were reported and you were suspended you just might get out, but then again you just might migrate over to DU and find a better home there.
