Over on 8ch, a discussion of derp art and how it is used to manipulate us had this:

We *do* understand sex and death images unconsciously and traumatic images are retained in memory below the threshold of conscious awareness to influence our future behavior over time. Images of sex and violence in unconscious memory affect us like PTSD caused by real world exposure to rape, torture, child pornography or physical trauma.

I think that is also relevant to our current turmoil over images posted here.

I can’t take sides in the post/don’t post issue because I am VERY SYMPATHETIC to BOTH sides.

Another factor that we should take into account is that some people are equally affected by words. Some of us are more visual. Some of us are more verbal. Some of us are acutely affected by one or both.

I’m asking that you be gentle with your fellow FReeQs and be tolerant of your fellow FReeQs.

Possible solution: Could disturbing images be posted on a separate thread with links to it from the Q thread?

/slide

I hope we can get back to digging on the derps now. Q asks us to stick together, stay united.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Watching how quickly the pics were deleted on the old thread, I reasoned that we wouldn’t be allowed to keep them even if on thread participants decided to have them because anyone at anytime can “report abuse”: on-thread people, mods, lurkers, and trolls. The more distress the issue causes, the easier it is for trolls to roil the thread just by asking mods to delete it. I thought the same of the profanity issue - troll party starts when a removed post causes debaters to think their peers had it deleted.
There is no “please keep this post” button; there’s a default to removal, so voting or debating won’t work. I think maybe FR developed their policies regarding removal because people would keep clicking the abuse unless the post was removed - then no abuse button to click. But perhaps a thread linked to ours might escape conflict and be preferable to an image linked to our thread.
Below, former CIA director fans the flames of panic in his first interview following his recovery from a stroke.
full article:
Former CIA Director and Republican Michael Hayden: America May Not Survive a Second Trump Term
Excerpt:
"1. Hayden is very worried about the resignation of the UK ambassador to the United States and the fact that Trump consistently treats our closest allies like enemies and some of our worst enemies like allies.
2.He said there is “no question” that our standing in the world has suffered significantly because of Trump’s behavior as president.
3. Based on his experience as CIA Director, he is says the report this week that Russia was behind the Seth Rich conspiracy theory gaining traction in the American media is “absolutely true,” though he blames our manipulative news media, specifically Fox News, and gullible population, more than he even does the Russians.
4. The Mueller report was even worse for Trump than he had anticipated and he eagerly looks forward to what Robert Mueller will say in his congressional testimonies next week.
5. In his opinion, Attorney General Bill Barr purposely deceived the American people on Trump’s behalf. Hayden agreed with my assertion that the president’s firing of Jeff Sessions, so as to make Barr’s appointment possible, is perhaps the most egregious thing Trump has done during the investigation.
6. What is outlined in the Mueller report is enough to warrant Trump’s impeachment, but Hayden is resigned to the idea that the best course of action would be to forgo the impeachment process and vote him out of office in 2020.
7. Hayden lambasts the “deep state” conspiracy — a wacky theory being pushed by Republicans and the “conservative” media desperate to nullify Mueller’s conclusions that the intelligence agencies were out to get Trump — as being “crazy,” and “just not possible.”
8. He ominously concludes that the damage that Trump has done to our institutions so far can be survived, but that the United States, at least as we know it, may not be able to endure two terms of him as president."
