That man is such a living saint my eyes were scalding with tears at the sight of such mercy.
What if he had been one more like us pathetic snowflakes? May God have mercy on our soul for our paralyzing revulsion of seeing the aborted and caring for the dead, to a holy burial.
~~~~~~~~~~
He is a wonderful man, indeed. He seems to have a calling which he could not perform if he were overburdened or otherwise unable to “face” it. I’m grateful to him.
I am one of those “sensitive” people (snowflakes?). In my family, I was the one who struggled to bounce back from family crisis even when I was 10. Some in our group may have service related PTSD (first responders, vets, others dealing with extraordinary events), battling depression, experienced a miscarriage, abortion or other event - and if they are paralyzed with revulsion, I believe there can be no moral failing or shame involved - comfort only. I believe these have another calling and serve other ways. So I don’t see us as pathetic; I see us as humans with a disparate variety of gifts.
I believe the pic chosen for that drop may have been selected because pics of all actual instances of DS merchandising of fetuses would have to be a) MUCH more traumatic in the context provided and b) classified (or have the potential to compromise the source of the pic).
As those of us who struggled today with the image seek to recover our footing, the choice of picture (a man honoring the dead so selflessly) points us to good, noble deeds. Following that line of thinking, for those the DS will slay, there are those who will do all they can, serve and sacrifice, to undo as much as possible. For this I am grateful. :)
I’m just bookmarking this as I want to respond tomorrow when my mind is fresh. But as you say “a disparate variety of gifts.” That spoke to my heart.
I read you. You point is very well taken on the unique causation of snowflakes, and in the cases of serious cause I, too, am most sympathetic to that reality, as well. I cant even follow the NIXIIVM story but for headlines, so I am not removed from being snowflaky, myself.
I just dont pound the table because others can, or demand it go away because its posted every single day. I respect their interest and it is Not gratuitous or exploitative of the subject, any more than the single photo of saintly mercy depicted to the most innocent.
Poor RB posted one picture, one time, and the berating was a bit much. I was sorry for him. The last concern I would have had is how his abortion photo post would go over with my abortion supporting Leftist acquaintances! Do they not need to own up to their deeds? God forbid. Who cares for their feelings ?
The phenomenal mercy shown was a lesson for the Christian soul. I was thankful for the privilege of seeing it. Striking was the strictly minority babies was the important Secondary message.
Thank you for reminding me that some snowflakes have Real reasons for gating themselves off. PTSD, tragedy, etc. For that kind of reason I do regard very much.
I have not read any other responses this morning, so my apologies. I went to bed and as is my usual routine, I read a bit of a book, then finish with the Bible. I am currently reading Psalms and Proverbs.
Psalms 9 and 10 really spoke to all of this, at least to me. I have no idea what my purpose on this board is. My researching skills are minimal compared to what others can offer.
If you aren’t a Biblical person, that is fine, but allow me, if you will to copy and paste from Psalms 9.
There were several verses that really spoke to me.
Psalms 9:3 “When my enemies turn back, they shall fall and perish at your presence.”
Psalms 9:5 “You have destroyed the wicked: You have blotted out their name forever and forever.”
Thanksgiving for God’s Justice
9 1 To the Chief Musician. To the tune of ‘Death of the Son.’ A Psalm of David. I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. 3 When my enemies turn back, They shall fall and perish at Your presence. 4 For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging in righteousness. 5 You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever. 6 O enemy, destructions are finished forever! And you have destroyed cities; Even their memory has perished. 7 But the Lord shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment. 8 He shall judge the world in righteousness, And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness. 9 The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. 10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
11 Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people. 12 When He avenges blood, He remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble. 13 Have mercy on me, O Lord! Consider my trouble from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, 14 That I may tell of all Your praise In the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in Your salvation. 15 The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught. 16 The Lord is known by the judgment He executes; The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Meditation. Selah 17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God. 18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten; The expectation of the poor shall not perish forever. 19 Arise, O Lord, Do not let man prevail; Let the nations be judged in Your sight. 20 Put them in fear, O Lord, That the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah
Well said, as usual.
