Thanks, lj. I called the Dr's office at 3pm and DEMANDED that they deal with this potentially dangerous situation or prepare for me to possibly spend the holiday weekend in the hospital. I proposed - I imagine a bit wildly but not without cause - diverticulitis and suggested an antibiotic, to at least hopefully keep me out of the hospital until I could see the Dr. Finally they phoned in a couple of scripts for me - Cipro for one, I believe. sigh
Oh my goodness, be careful with Cipro, I read it can have some side effects. Keep the thread posted with how things go for you.
Just thought I would mention that I took Cipro for the same issues. I had no problems with it and I got well. That does’t mean another attack won’t happen though!
I’ve been through the full trek on diverticulitis. Beware you don’t want cipro to lose effectiveness. Ultimately surgery is likely required but it can get ugly
Hubby had a trial with diverticulitis. Repeated attacks and dosed with this or that antibiotic. Cipro was the last one he took and still had a flare up a month or so later.
We low carbed him for several days and then he water fasted for 4 days. He drank one of the emergen-c electrolyte powders a couple times a day.
Hasn’t had a problem since, been nearly a year and a half now.
