To: Governor Dinwiddie

It begs the question, why can’t we do the same for the men’s team?

It costs an arm and a leg for a boy to get into a soccer academy to play a game that poor kids in Brazil can play in the streets.

That's a good question. Part of the answer might be that boys have divided interests—baseball, football, hockey, basketball. Girls pretty much have a choice of soccer or basketball (distant second).

Yes, some girls do play those other sports, but girls in general are not particularly attracted to them. For some reason soccer is simpatico with female sensibilities.

poor kids in Brazil can play in the streets.

On my vacations to Honduras I'd always see kids playing soccer on uncut fields and barefooted with a beat up old ball.......

With that being said, I'm not a soccer fan but I was looking forward to watching the US team. But after the comments of that one player and others supporting her, there's no way I'm watching. But I am rooting for the French team....
