I loved Letterman in the 80s - his show was hilarious. He went off the deep end. I know people who worked for him at the end. They say he was mentally ill. He would ask his writers to produce 80 jokes a day and then discard them.

I too was a big fan of Letterman back in the 80s when I was in my 20s. Even went to a few shows. Loved the Larry "Bud" Melman bits.
