Streaming over the internet is how Roku is delivered as opposed to having a cable. It is sort of like how you do FR if you think of the Roku device as a computer and the TV as a screen.

Just me and you, I guess.
(I haven’t read all responses since mine...no others addressed to me though.)

Glad the 2 of us could see the obvious.

Roku accounts are free. You do not need a CC. You must going on line and activate the Roku device. It’s a simple process.

You can watch over the air content with nothing more than a digital antennae. Depending on the location you can get a good numbers of channel for free.

Does watching TV mean streaming????

No. If a television receives its signal from an antenna, without any internet connection, that has nothing to do with "streaming" in the modern sense. Streaming means sending data to a device, such as a television, over an internet connection. If you watch an online YouTube video or listen to an online radio station, you are receiving content that is being streamed over the internet to your computer or other device.

Not certain, but free tv plus at this location seems to be varied channels on Pluto. Pluto is a channel with a terrific movie library. They add new features throughout the month. All for free.

for TV, internet and phone.

She's still going to need the internet. She may still need the phone (but she probably has a cell and might be able to ditch the landline). I ran the numbers one time, and it looked like I might save about %50 at most if I dumped the tv - the prices were going to go up on the other elements if I ditched the tv portion.

If your daughter is in the same town as you are, and on SSI, she should qualify for $14.99 a month internet from spectrum or kinetic (Windstream). With a Roku, and a TracFone, she could save $$$.

I got Roku about a month ago and those are the directions I followed to get around entering a CC

I am a lot like that lady who doesn’t understand, I can get the TV box, and Kodi, what is Scrubs2 and CCloudTV....what does it get me? Can I watch NFL games live? DVR function? Fox News, HGTV for the wife, Golf channel, etc? A lot of people just worked for 50 years, used Comcast and are only now using A smart TV...but I am paying $200 a month for xfinity cable and service....being raped really. It seems someone could write a book, or model how it works online???

Some Roku channels allow you to subscribe through the customer’s iTunes account. I pay for Hulu and Britbox through iTunes.

I don’t even have a credit card listed on my iTunes account. I just purchase iTunes gift cards every month. I subscribed to HBO recently, specifically to watch the “Chernobyl” miniseries. I will not resubscribe.

I don’t recall if Netflix will allow payments through iTunes. I am a former subscriber to Netflix but it has been over a year and I can’t remember. Wouldn’t hurt to try, though.

Some Roku channels will only accept credit cards.

I just canceled Netflix after Obama and Big Mike joined the board of directors. There are plenty of other subscription services, Hulu, etc., along with many free channels you can access through the Roku device.

I wholeheartedly agree. There has to be a better option for this young lady that is not costly and doesn't have trashy or a skewed to the left viewing influence.

I dropped Netflix after the Obama and his beard were signed by Netflix.

Yep! So did I!

I’ve got two. One in my house and one for travel, and I’ve never given them a CC#. Just hook it up, activate and you’re on your way. I do have Prime, Netflix and YouTube TV accounts and they all require cards, but never Roku itself. That’s been my experience. You mileage may vary.
