Lend Lease to USSR:
8500 Sherman Tanks
12000 aircraft
450,000 trucks and jeeps
3200 locomotives
8500 tractors
100 octane aviation fuel
Anyone think the Reds win without these? Let alone the diversion of German resources caused by: 24hour bombing; the need to confront Allies in North Africa and the Med; the need to defend against invasion from Norway to Spain.
I cannot believe the numbers of so called educated people I have encountered who have no knowledge or understanding of these facts.
Oh, they know the facts, it just doesn't advance their agenda.
All of that plus a brutal Russian winter shortly before, during and after the battle of Stalingrad decimated the Germans in the east.
That sounds like much but in reality less than 10% of all war material used by the Soviet military in war. That alone shows the scale of fighting on the East Front which is unprecedented by any means.
It doesn’t in any way means lend-lease was insignificant but it wasn’t critical.
The reality is the German military was mostly defeated in the East as early as winter 1941 before most of lend-lease stuff arrived.
Stalin didn't constantly badger and insult the West to open a second front just for the hell of it. The war against the U-boats wasn't enough, the strategic bombing wasn't enough, the lend-lease wasn't enough, and the North Africa/Italy/Middle East efforts weren't enough.
I guess maybe Uncle Joe was finally satisfied after he interned and reverse-engineered the B-29, the UK sold him the Rolls-Royce Nene jet engine and fellow travelers like Klaus Fuchs gave him the bomb.
Nah, not even then.
