In September 1939, both the Soviet Union and Germany invade, and the country is divided in half
France and UK declare war on Germany, but not on the Soviet Union.
Why is that?

On further reflection,the “Greatest Generation” came around 3 times in history.
1.The generation during the time of Our Lord Jesus.
2.The generation of the American Revolution.
3.The Depression Era/WW2 Era generation,(American Greatest Generation in special way).

Not surprised. You have the Depression Era/WW2 Era generation is sadly is fading into history now. That is also why there is efforts to work at archiving this part of history, WW2.

Probably because that’s what the map dictates. They shared a border with Germany and it was an actual threat to their own survival. A prime concern of militaries is logistics. There would have been no way for England and France to project power against the USSR. As it was they couldn’t even hold Germany at bay.
