I love that Emma the librarian is the one who ended his streak.
I am sure we will see James square off against Ken on the next “Tournament of Champions”. I am still shocked that James went down. He finally faced an opponent who used his Daily Double/large bet/correct answer strategy against him.
My parents have started watching some of those shows. They like it, but they also stated that there really isnt much money involved in the much-vaunted Jeopardy show. Interesting point. They were a bit put off by how losers might not get anything, while other shows let them walk off with something.
I told a friend a few days ago what it would take to beat him and it played out exactly that way.
They would have to be good, get and make a high wager true double jeopardy. Also be a little bit lucky.
Mu friend is president of Mensa for a 14 county area.
James Holzhauer will be interviewed on the Dan Patrick Show before 11AM EDT (about 15 mins from now)

My wife and I watched all the James shows. Yesterday morning at work I saw a headline on some website about James losing to a woman. I clicked on it and the author wrote that the woman who beat him was named Emma and that her bid on Final Jeopary was $20,000 and that James only bet $1,900. I told my wife about it as we were sitting waiting for the show to begin. When I noticed the woman on the right named “Emma” is said “Uh oh” and then noticed that James was wearing a collared shirt which was the first time I recall seeing him in anything but collar-less I told me wife that the internet rumor was probably true and sure enough it was over for him. We both agreed that he would probably decide when it was time to go and it appeared that last night he did not do much to snatch victory away. It was probably time for him to get the hell out of LA and back to his home and young family. Plus the NFL 2019 season is developing with organized team activities so he is probably boning up on the upcoming season. Good luck with your bets, James.
If I remember correctly, Ken Jennings ended up being a Trump hater.
They do have those periodically. Last one was a about 3 or 4 months ago.
Jennings is a POS.
I was really hoping this guy would knock him off of that pedestal.
Looked to me like he THREW the game!! That last bet was NOTHING like he usually does!! I think they didn’t want that creepy lefty gayish Ken Jennings to lose his title!
I’m a former champion from the 90s.
Everyone who thinks he lost on purpose is full of it, as others have mentioned. He wagered correctly, she was just faster on the button enough times. Nothing’s rigged - they could never survive it if it ever got out.
As far as the 2nd and 3rd place not getting money: The point is that only the winner gets cash, otherwise someone who is in second with a hefty total may not wager to win.
When I lost and finished second, the prizes I received for 2nd place were worth about 5 grand, and that was 20 years ago. This was also when the over all money was one-half what it is now.
The players that lose do fine. I’ll also say being on TV didn’t make it more difficult. The game moves too fast for you to even think about the fact that you’re on television. there’s no time to ponder it.
It might just be me but he looks just the slightest bit Japanese. I once worked with a Federal agent who was half Japanese and he resembled Holzhauer a lot.
Did he throw the game to cash in on a bet?
