However, the description caught me so off guard that I found myself reevaluating what communion might mean..."My guard has never dropped so far as to believe any of that stuff that Rome purports to claim as FACT.

The consistency of Christians belief for two millennia puts your skepticism at a disadvantage.You have no knowledge of those 7 Catholic churches in Asia that the angel told John to WRITE to??

Nay Ma’am: we sure do NOT compete;
When crafting cute rhymes oh so sweet.
We encourage each other;
Whether Sister or Brother;
To cling to the ROCK - not Saint Pete.

Well, it hasn't quite come to that, yet, but you can see how it's trending. I just came in from class, and I'm going to bed. Let's get off the Jordan Peterson thread, because nobody has even alluded to the original topic for the past 750 replies. God bless you, and have a good night. I don't know which comments you've been reading but there has been nothing BUT discussion on why we disagree with Peterson's view that Catholicism is "as sane as people can get"! He's not a Christian so I doubt he is aware of the many MAJOR differences in theology between Catholicism and Orthodoxy and Protestantism. I think how a person views his relationship with Almighty God has a huge influence in how he lives and why he lives that way. Peterson made this observation when he laid out extemporaneously the vision of a believer in God:
To be able to accept the structure of existence, the suffering that goes along with it and the disappointment and the betrayal, and to nonetheless act properly; to aim at the good with all your heart; to dispense with the malevolence and your desire for destruction and revenge and all of that; and to face things courageously and to tell the truth to speak the truth and to act it out, that's what it means to believe -- that's what it means -- it doesn't mean to state it, it means to act it out. And, unless you act it out you should be very careful about claiming it. And so, I've never been comfortable saying anything other than I try to act as if God exists because God only knows what you'd be if you truly believed.
If I live my life in obedience to God because I fear His wrath and eternal hellfire, I will NEVER have the kind of peace and assurance of God's love that He desires for me and it will influence every motivation I might have for doing good.

We are allmembers of the One Body."WE" who?
It is ABUNDANTLY clear that ROME does NOT consider ME to be a member of the body; so how can YOU?

Mussed hair is MUCH better than none;
For yer scalp can get scorched by the sun.
Best put on a cap;
‘fore ya open yer yap;
Lest ye stumble while making a pun.

BB is very famous for living on a house boat
Whose home is her castle, except for the moat
In a bad rain storm
Her abode is so warm
Theres no worry, cuz her house will still float.
OK BB. The ball is in your court. 😁🙃👍😀
I still say this is more fun, that reading all sorts of false religious doctrines. 🙃

Scripture is right because it’s God breathed, Holy Spirit inspired Truth, and whatever agrees with that is correct and whatever doesn’t is wrong.

The only sacrifices we are to give are these....
Romans 12:1-2 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Hebrews 13:15-16 Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Maybe what is cut and dried is that the RESULT of the once-for-all sacrifice is what the altar in heaven represents. So, rather than the sacrifice being eternally offered by the eternal high priest, it is the benefit of it for all time for all those who are redeemed by it that is eternal. Scripture clearly teaches when Jesus offered His blood upon the mercy seat in heaven and it was accepted, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on High. He is a completely different Priest so His sacrifice is different I just thought of this while in the shower...the earthly high priests went into Holy of Holies once a year on the Day of Atonement to make the sin offering of the blood of bulls and goats (they also made daily sacrifices), but the Yom Kippur was a special yearly sacrifice. This once-a-year offering was good for the whole year to make expiation for the sins of the people. But when Jesus, our Eternal and Permanent High Priest made sacrifice for sin He did it once for all when He offered up Himself. He did NOT enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. Otherwise, Christ would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
My ah-ha was that Jesus' single sacrifice was effective FOREVER. It never needed to be repeated nor "made present" since its result was the atonement of sin through His perfect blood offering.

Very good...’cept we don’t live on the boat anymore. Boaters have pet names for other boaters. When we had the sailboat we were “rag-baggers” or “blow-boaters”. On the power boat we were “wake-makers”. When we moved to the house in NC we were “dirt-dwellers”. Now that we’re in a condo high rise I guess we could be called “sky-dwellers”? It sure was fun on the boat, though! I miss it sometimes. Sure looking forward to mansions in heaven. ;o)

I believe you are correct BB. Since we know this to be true, and since I am an ex catholic, we always were told the mass was the unbloody sacrifice of the cross. My question is, why do the Romanists, continue pushing this blasphemous false doctrine on us? I dont buy it.

Mrs.D, I know in your mind it’s not an ongoing sacrifice. I’m sure you’ve convinced yourself of that.

If you can pull a quote from the CCC that’s typically enough to prove what Roman Catholic doctrine is.
(And if it’s not in their Catechism, I have to wonder why their writers keep talking about it.)
