I have come closer to being hit by a car backing OUT of a parking space many, many, many more times than someone pulling out straight...

If you have a van, SUV or PU with Shell next to you, you can’t see whether you should be backing out until you are mostly out of the space. So you inch and inch and wait to honked at or hit.

How can they? Today’s modern cars suck regarding visibility problems.
Tiny little windows, huge headrests, large C-pillars, etc.
No wonder they need all the cameras, monitors, and other gizmos.
And there's a lot of dummies who find it necessary to walk behind your car while you're backing out. I guess they don't realize that it's a whole lot easier for them to see me, then it is for me to see them, yet they'll bitch if you don't see them.
People backing out are looking for lit backup lights. Since you people who love to back in never ever turn your lights on before you move forward, we can’t tell that you are about to move forward.
Clue: turn your lights on before you move.
