Taylor Swift Promises to Get ‘Political’ in Upcoming Music

Pop megastar Taylor Swift revealed in a recent interview that she has no plans to give up her political activism mere months after her failed effort to help elect former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen (D) to the U.S. Senate.

“I definitely think there are political undertones in the new music I made,” Taylor Swift told the German publication RTL. “I’m not planning to stop encouraging young people to vote and to try to get them to talk about what’s going on in our country. I think that’s one of the most important things I could do.”

In October 2018, Swift shocked the entertainment world by breaking her long-held silence on politics with an endorsement of Bredesen for U.S. Senate and Democrat Jim Cooper for U.S. House of Representatives, citing their record on LGBT issues.

“As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn,” Shake It Off singer wrote. “Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values.”

I can compartmentalize on stores and Restaurants. But actors is difficult for me. I can’t watch another Alec Baldwin, Jim carry, Jane Fonda and others movie. Just being democrat doesn’t get a ban from me, but if they are nasty and abusive then they are off the list forever.

So she has a record of endorsing losers - just like Oprah.

That’s an old pic. She’s beginning to pack on the Lb’s
I alway’s thought that all she had was looks. Songs for middle school girls makes money but is not sustainable. Maybe she’ll start doing those country lament songs after her career tanks.

The great boob Oprah brought us Obozo. Ugh! Never give her one red cent of my money now or ever!

Okay, got it. Gonna be interesting to watch Generation Z. Like you say, they’ve been exposed to the liberal full monty but maybe this will turn out to be a kind of inoculation. That would be a nice boomerang and would not be unprecedented. Look at how the Boomers were raised with Leave It To Beaver but ended up with a fairly large and very influential countercultural faction. I wonder how accurate she is with her 50% estimate but if she’s anywhere near the ballpark that is encouraging.

She voted against equal pay for women.

Ok Taylor...every male singer, even if they can't carry a tune in a bucket, should paid the same as you and have access to everything you do.

Honestly, sometimes the lack of functioning grey matter in her head is amazing.

Yet, she's already made more in her life than I would in several lifetimes.

I hope to live long enough to belly laugh over a video of 50 year old TS singing her tripe to 50-60 and 70 year old women who would LOVE to have a man who hasn’t disappointed them. All of her music is teeny bopper crap. David Cassidy and the Monkees quality.

Wow! 100 million voters know Miley Cyrus...oops, Taylor Swift?! So more than two thirds of voters know her and will vote with her? Seems like her endorsement in the last election was just a fluke in “her” state, I guess.

Exactly! Exactly! That's my thinking, absolutely!

Why should anyone think that kids have changed so much, that kids are just naturally liberal and can't be anything but liberal?

These kids nowadays have been exposed to everything, transgenderism, identity politics, the Me Too movement, the Walk Away movement, the Get Woke movement, boys in the girl's bathrooms, boys on the girl's track team, etc., etc.

Kids don't like getting things crammed down their throats, and they're smart enough to be able to tell when that's what's going on.

Plus they have the internet, which we didn't.

Also, it's important to distinguish between two eras here. The internet era is one thing; that started in about 1994 for most adults.

For kids, there's the internet, and then there's this other thing called social media, which is a separate and distinct phenomenon altogether. Kids my daughter's age have grown up in the era of social media, the internet is just a given, just a background utility they take for granted.

“I know several b-list celebrities.”

That’s definitely one thing she’s not. At this stage of her career she’s calling her own shots.

When Clinton lovers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill introduced Swift to country music fans years ago, I had a feeling that this would become the sad result.....

Sad to see she has gone over to the dark side...

Used to be a nice wholesome girl you wanted your children to look up to and follow instead of Miley Cyrus, et al, not so much anymore!
