HOUSTON (AP) — The U.S. government says a 16-year-old Guatemalan died Monday at a Border Patrol station in South Texas, the fifth death of a migrant child apprehended by border agents since December. U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement that Border Patrol apprehended the teenager in South Texas' Rio Grande Valley on May 13. The agency says the teenager was found unresponsive Monday morning during a welfare check at the agency's Weslaco, Texas, station. The teenager's cause of death is unknown.

We caught 8000 children in march, so if the numbers are the same, we’ve caught 32,000 children since January 1st.

5 deaths out of 32,000, is actually very close to the child mortality rate, which is about 4.2 per 33,000 for 4 months (38 per 100,000 for a year).

Children die. When you have so many of them, some of them are going to die. And frankly, given that the death rate in honduras is 5 per 1000 (per year), they are much safer in BP custody than in their home countries.

If we really wanted to run up the death toll, we could simply release all the migrant children into Chicago.

My superpower is being able to read between the lines. What Nomaan (if that's his real name) is saying is he ( or she) blames the political leaders of the dead child's country for perpetuating a system that motivates its citizens/peons to risk life and limb in order to reach a country that has the potential to provide the type of lifestyle that should be ardently promoted by said leaders back home.
